Hello there and welcome to my 123 rd blog.
Here we go again… 6th end of year rhyming.
As two thousand and twenty-five draws to a close,
I can safely say, it has not been a doze.
It seems repetitive to say this one more time
And on the whole the year has been sublime.
Yet at the speed of light the years fly by,
It’s a bit scary for me, my oh my.
To stop this from happening, I am not able,
But it seems like last week, I was in the cradle!
I just must make every moment count,
And let those memories just mount and mount.
January arrived with a party at New year,
At our dear friend, bubbles and beer.
Staying with our besties was just great,
Busy, festive, many a night that was late.
A visit from family when we came back,
Always so good, as we do miss them a stack.
Then James left the country followed closely by Drew,
It was very hard so say bye, that I already knew.
But London beckoned with so much to offer,
Earning those pounds, to boost the family coffer!!
Not really… but beyond awesome for them,
And me trying very hard my tears to stem.
February came and I did a talk at Garden Village,
Fall prevention hints, and to watch any spillage.
I love my work and it gives my life meaning,
To help make these folks life be less demeaning.
In March, a fleeting visit to see the two older Boys,
Family time in London Town, maintaining my poise.
Seeing friends and family and having a blast,
Plenty of revelry, and the very easiest task.
Blessed with dear friends, staying in their haven,
With glorious surrounds , and the odd raven
We then went to France to the snow filled hills,
Skiing never having been one of my very strong skills,
Such an awesome group and an incredibly glorious place,
A tumble, a sore shoulder, another fall from grace.
Perhaps its time to hang up those boots,
And watch from the side, with the walking groups.
Then, a hasty voyage home be at to John’s grad,
The timing was so tight, it was just rad.
Beyond special, to see our youngest get capped
Memories of our time there, as we sat and clapped.
Johnny now firmly ensconced in the fair Cape
With his mates, a good job, and the odd grape.
Proper empty nesters, my favourite and I
It was quite daunting, I aint gonna lie.
However, it really helps that we get on quite well,
An understatement I think he is beyond swell.
April arrived and John came to stay,
Having him at Easter, completely made my day.
Then we headed to The Broom with a dear friend or two,
We had a wonderful time and there was much to do.
Next was May, and Drew turned twenty-eight.
Not being with him again, put me into a state.
He was happy with mates and had a fab day,
It’s not about me; I keep having to say.
Then Humzie arrived to visit us and dear Stash,
Mother’s Day then became a true bash.
My bestie and godson joined us for the Day too,
It was such a treat, a veritable hullabaloo.
A visit to the Cape in the month of June.
To see Johnny again, I was over the moon.
We visited our friends in Val de Vie,
Superb their new home for us to see.
A walk with Judes was food for the soul,
Exercising and chatting, that’s how we roll.
Then Mum had her op and these times were quite hard,
It all ended well, with her successful health card.
July arrived and I went back to the UK,
A special time with my friend with her I did stay.
Touristy stuff and properly getting a step or two,
There always just seems so much to do.
A visit to Eastbourne with Humzie and Drew,
Hiking, meals out, with wine and the odd brew.
We had loads of laughs and it was fun,
Just being together, with views, sea and sun.
Then a trip to Brugge, beyond my comfort zone,
It was important for me to spend time alone.
Some reflection and touring, a beautiful place,
I walked and viewed at a very great pace.
All the while my favourite stayed at our house,
Managing my Mum, he is the very best spouse.
August saw me on an awesome girl’s trip,
To magnificent Pafuri, a veritable rip.
Once again, feeling so very blessed,
With incredible beauty, our country is the best.
Baobabs, fever trees and many a bird,
And walking quite close to a buffalo herd.
An Elly in the camps, and the girls were brave,
Although, a fright it certainly us gave.
Cape Town was the spot in September to be,
Celebrating Birthdays, Pops and Johnny -you see.
Road tripping, delicious meals, and many a laugh,
Boat trips, catch ups, and so much fun, not half!
Then a pacemaker for Pops which has worked so well,
He really is a warrior, amazing and just so very swell.
October arrived, with a trip to the bush,
I love these holidays, so for me a very easy push.
A new place and new friends, just so cool,
A stunning lodge with a fab view at the pool.
This was also the month of my big six oh,
Although a big number, I certainly felt no woe.
My boys were all there, a magical surprise to boot.
Then I properly bawled…they thought this a hoot.
My party was the best and I felt beyond blessed,
Celebrating so much, with very little rest.
Feeling the love, again and again.
Revelling in the attention, the joy didn’t wane.
Much generosity and over and over,
Kindness and thoughtfulness, I was completely in clover.
Then Marge’s sixtieth, so elegant and much fun,
Friends mean the world, when all’s said and done.
An amazing trip to London then came,
November in this spot is definitely not lame.
The festive season, with glorious lights galore,
Store windows, Christmas trees, never a bore.
A family weekend in the Cotswolds, just the best,
Road tripping as a family, I felt beyond blessed.
Catches up with my friends, and mates of the chaps,
And, most mornings on the common, we did our laps.
Seeing Kimmie and Ollie was a veritable treat,
Our Boys with their cousins, always just neat.
December is here and I am so very glad.
And in retrospect, a fine year we have had.
We are spending the holiday here at The Broom.
With family and friends, filling each room.
Callum and Kyla, with Paula and E,
The most special time, together to be.
Blessed with time with my Mum and Pops,
The fun and frivolity, this never stops.
For a very wee while we will be altogether,
My ultimate best, no matter the weather.
We will make the most of the last of the year,
With kindness and love and the very best cheer.
I think it’s time for me to say bye,
But a few more lines, I need to try.
I look forward to 2026 with positivity and hope,
And I definitely feel with it I shall cope.
My family is my rock, and their support knows no bounds,
My love for them throughout the world resounds.
My friends have shown that they care a great deal,
Our friendships are deep, authentic, and real.
Their generosity, care, and many a kind word,
Especially this year, huge emotions have stirred.
My milestone birthday has made me think,
I plan to keep busy, and to paint the town pink.
La Vie en Rose will so be my thing,
I still have much to the world to bring.
My work gives me joy, and I hope to do more,
Next year, for me, has much in store.
My consistent and continuous pledge to be kind,
Is awesome for the health of my spirit and mind.
I plan to allow, and just to let be,
And along the way, to be true to me.
To overthink less, and much more to pray
And to make the most of every single day.
To keep well and fit, as long as I can,
To live life to the full, that’s the plan.
I wish you all from the bottom of my heart,
An abundantly amazing year from the start.
Take care, be kind and make the most of each day,
To be your best person in every single way.
Wishing you a wonderful time over this season,
Living your best life, for every rhyme or reason.
May twenty twenty six, be abundant and real,
And treat you to all the love you can feel.
With loads of love and a big hug,
