A stuck record I fear I have become,
Repeating , repeating and often then some.
Actually, not if I think very hard,
Since yet another year The Virus has scarred.
There has been so much sadness and many a loss,
And in the world at large, Covid remains the boss.
So confused about this frikking Covid testing,
Antigen, PCR or should I be resting?
Where and how and when will it end,
And will our beloved world be able to mend?
Enough of that, so much I have learnt
At times, not enough, my fingers so burnt.
Being too hard on myself is really not cool,
I must not allow my saboteurs to rule.
This will be addressed in the New Year,
And I will love myself more, never you fear.
Moving along, blunders I have made,
And for these high prices I have paid.
These have taught me much, that’s safe to say,
And I now try to take life day by day.
Comparisons are odious but so hard to stop,
In this area I need to be like a cop.
I still overthink, am anxious and worry,
It wastes so much time and then I am sorry.
How does one stop this, pray I ask?
A future work, yet another task.
The competitive streak remains shining bright,
I am trying to channel it, and then this feels just right.
Directed at Duolingo for now, my French learning app,
I am thrilled to be doing this and loving this cap.
Socializing took a back seat again this year,
A great deal cancelled, events far and near.
Time spent quarantining and that’s okay,
As I have learnt that at home I do love to stay.
However, mingling a little more before omicron hit,
Fun, friends, and my rather questionable wit.
It made me realize that I do love to party,
And I seem on the whole to remain hale and hearty.
My champers or bubbles remain close to my heart,
And I would be rather bleak, were we to part.
A glass or two make my troubles seem less,
Its my story, and that is what counts, I guess.
I have realized that I struggle to manage my hats,
Its physio first with those very scary Sats,
Rehab, fall prevention and so much fun,
A full-time job when it’s all said and done.
My nutrition consulting has taken a back seat,
Although happy to advise those people I meet.
Neolife and my blogs meandering along,
Still big in my life, don’t get me wrong.
I have not failed, and they are not going away,
And as we all know, tomorrow’s another day.
Social media features less than it did before,
I post kindness, health, and our holidays galore.
Wishing folk Happy on the day of their birth,
It’s contact with others, their thoughts, and some mirth.
It’s under control and rule me it does not,
And I am certain my strong mind, it will not rot.
Although my cupboards remain a big mess,
I can promise you now, I’m buying a lot less.
It is the thorn in my side, I have to say,
Perhaps another thing about which I must pray.
Self-isolating too many times to even add,
There’s been time to tidy, so it is rather sad.
But somehow there seems so much else to do,
Well over this, I am not going to stew.
My mental health, foremost in my mind,
My calming deep breathing helps hugely, I find.
A big concern of mine is that I always must wait
For some form of result, and they are always late.
Its stressful and scary and I don’t manage it well,
And my poor favourite goes through a great deal of hell.
Exam results, blood tests and the dreaded PCR,
Many a day and night these have managed to mar.
My patience is poor, but it has improved much,
Next year is the time, some wood let us touch.
I am so looking forward to some life coaching again,
Here’s hoping it really can render me sane!
I still laugh a lot, sometimes hysterically so,
And with it, tension, stress, and anxiety do go.
I know that to be vulnerable is actually alright,
If I just manage to keep my resilience in sight.
My physical health remains paramount to me,
I really need to care for myself, I now do see.
Age is a number, but our body does not know,
So, to checkups and medicals, we all need to go.
My supplements seem to keep me quite well,
And as a side venture, Neolife is quite swell.
I strive to ensure good nutrients I eat,
But sometimes not, when I am tired and beat.
The diet sodas have sadly crept back in,
But that really is my worst eating sin.
I am eating meat again and we shall just have to see,
In moderation, take note, that bad word for me.
Sugar intake is less and that’s a big plus
Meal prep a little lax, but I am not going to fuss.
Exercise is vital for my overall health,
As is my sleep, these are inherently my wealth.
My breathing is becoming my meditation act,
And it’s improving so much, that is a fact.
I obsess about my weight and that will not change,
Considering my history with food, this is not strange.
My Mum has had a year which has been unbelievably rough,
And she has suffered, beyond, which was terribly tough.
It will take time and I am sure she will heal,
She is a strong lady and will be okay, I do feel.
It has taken its toll on me more than I thought,
Another big life lesson I have been taught.
I love her so much and she can be really swell,
So am hoping and hoping it all will be well.
Missing Muz is so part of my life,
And at the oddest of times my tears are just rife.
The lessons she taught me continue to come,
Brandy’s fine in mince pies, instead of old rum.
She would be so proud of my awesome young men,
And contented with me, the hectic Mother Hen.
I really am growing and untying those strings,
Letting them live their lives with so many things.
Although they do like to put me to the test,
We have so much fun and my boys are the best.
Often it is a struggle to let them go,
As all of your Mums most definitely know.
Rich helps me so much in doing just this,
It’s often a hit, with the odd miss.
My kindness mission has become big in my life,
Mostly magnificent with the odd bit of strife.
So, I will plod on and on, and keep it going,
Sprinkling and scattering, rowing, and rowing.
Not sure where this journey will eventually end up,
But it’s teaching me loads and filling my cup.
Holidays we have had a plenty this year,
Five treats in the bush, and the Cape flowers so dear.
Stellies, St Francis, Sedgefield, and The Broom,
To work full time, there has been no room.
Beyond blessed to spend this time with close mates,
Walks, meals, braais, and lots of other dates.
My working year ends as of today,
I am on holiday, so very excited to say.
I wish you all well until we meet again,
May sunshine, fun and laughter stay in your lane
Thank you for all the support, your friendship and more,
And, for you all, may 2022 have great things in store.
Live your best life and have loads of fun.
May you all have great health, laughter and fun.
